Conference Overview and Objectives

The conference will feature experts from sustainable manufacturing and green construction, as well as the public and non-profit sectors describing best practices in marketing sustainability to consumers, building sustainable brand value, business process re-engineering for sustainability, effective energy, water and waste minimization and more.

Conference Format Timing and Schedule

The conference format will initially include plenary presentations providing an overview of the key themes of the conference. The conference will then break out into concurrent tracks offering attendees four topical options to present and discuss applications of new behavioral research and thinking to:
  • Marketing Green Products and Services
  • Closing the Energy Efficiency Gap
  • Achieving Sustainable Communities and Organizations
  • Realizing Renewable Energy Goals
The format of the conference will allow for ample discussion as the application of much of the behavioral research to the challenges of a green economy is new. The conference is scheduled for October 6-7, 2010, in Madison, Wisconsin. The Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies will host the meeting at the Monona Terrace. The conference begins with a hosted reception Tuesday evening (10/5). The conference program covers 1 ½ days and adjourns at noon on Thursday (10/7).

Conference Sponsors and Attendees

The Conference is being organized by GKA Research, Inc. Various sponsorships are being sought from corporations, government agencies, non-profit sustainability, environmental and energy foundations, energy utilities and others from the sustainability, environmental and energy communities. Conference attendees should include anyone with an interest in the application of new learning in behavioral sciences to today's green marketing challenges, including:

Conference Deliverables

Since a significant portion of the conference will be interaction and discussion among participants, a summary report will be prepared that includes both the presentation materials as well as notes from the discussion. It will be made available on our web site once completed.
